Brian was the Makeup Department Head for the Disney XD Television show. The show did two seasons of work.

Brian took this project on so that he would have to work with mostly no budget and no time, and still create characters and looks that would satisfy him and the producers.

Working on this project also gave him time to flex his “Corrective Makeup” muscles.

The next couple of images are from 'Disney's Mighty Med'. He was the Hologram Alien. One of the reasons that I took the job at Mighty Med was so that I could get out of my usual comfort zone of a long build and a lot of planning. This particular makeup fit that bill. I think, I had more time to think about this one then most. Two weeks to try and pull this together. I went through my usual Google search for off the shelf prosthetics that I hadn't already used. From the 'Mostly Dead' website I pulled the about 6 images that I found interesting, and then sent them to the producers for feedback. Their choice was the Aqua Alien prosthetic. But...as fun and interesting as the prosthetic was, I couldn't just put it on an actor with their own hair....or thrown on a bald cap first. So... I pulled out the Sharkman head cowl mold from Mighty Med season 1 and had it run in foam. When I ordered the prosthetic for the face....I ordered a few extra. There were so many cool shapes sculpted into the piece, I knew I could cobble something together. I ended up cutting a few of the prosthetics apart and assembling as the pic shows. The ear is actually the eye hole of the foam piece. Sabrina Wilson had come in as my 3rd for the shoot. I had her help with the prosthetic surgery, seaming, patching and the prepaint. Sabrina also helped with the application. As a side note....I recently found out that Chad Washam was responsible for the original sculpture. Ok... So here she is....Arachnia. Sorry for the lack of more in process pics. I didn't know that I was going to post these in a series...until I started posting. I will be more diligent in the future. I was pretty happy with the outcome. And comparing it to the design.. I think we hit our mark. For the application of the makeup... We first adhered the latex headpiece., with Telesis 5. The front of the face back over the top of the head and into then'horns' was one big silicone prosthetic. That was applied next, with both the right and left side of face / cheek pieces following suit. After some minimal blending we started the fun coloring process. This was a quick one of makeup... I don't even think we did a makeup test. Test day was shoot day. The coloring began with sponging and chip brushing a layer of tinted BlurBird inks for the base. Another layer of BlueBird inks was Sea Sponged on to create a breakup in tone. We used a stencil and then Skin Illustrator Burnt Orange color for the spotted pattern. I went back in with my Paasche airbrush and noodled in some modeling all over, break up the Orange a bit as well as create some dark spotting. Finished it all off with a tiny bit of eye makeup. I made a vacuform veneer for her teeth...which were painted a translucent orange. Just something to take away that 'Hollywood Smile' and give her a slight alien grill. And away she went...... #briansipemakeup #briansipe #gamut #gamutstudios #mightymed #disney #powdah #freakmosfx #booooooooniee #bobbieeller
