Xmen - Apocalypse!!!!

Ok...  Xmen - Apocalypse has been open for a bit, and I posted some pics to my Instagram and FaceBook pages.  Reposting here now...plus a few pics that nobody has seen...but those of you who follow me here.  Thanks for the support....and ENJOY!!

Behind the scenes in MTL representing Legacy Effects. Alexei Dmitriew @hookuptattoos and I applied Oscar's makeup for Apocalypse. This is for the end sequence where his armor gets blasted away. The Apocalypse makeup consisted of a urethane head piece, silicone neck/cowl, silicone forehead, face and lower jaw. It usually took us around 1 1/2 hours to do the face makeup when he wore his armor. With the added silicone chest and back painting and tattoos (provided by Hook Up Tattoos) we added an extra 30 minutes to the application time. @hookuptattoos ‪#‎oscarisaac‬   ‪#‎apocalypse‬   ‪#‎xmenapocalypse‬ ‪#‎marveluniverse‬   ‪#‎marvel‬

Another fun character that we got to create at Legacy Effects...."Old Apocalypse." We utilized some of the same elements from Oscar's makeup, so that there would be a through line for the characters. Truth be told, the actor Berge', had a great face to start with. It made creating the old and weathered version Apocalypse easier. I roughed in the sculpture, then Scott Stoddard @chewmakdatchosef , and I refined the shapes and took it to final detail. From there it moved through the machine which is Legacy Effects through the molding and silicone departments. If this passed through your hands... Please tag yourself. Once in Montreal, Alexei Dmitriew @hookuptattoos, and I did the first makeup test. We did him in grey tones with a lot of warm under tones. I really liked this version best. Singer wanted him to have more of a connection to the Oscar version, so he wanted to see a test in the Apocalypse real color. That is the final version that makes it to screen (I hope). During the shoot days, Alexei, Scott and Sabrina Wilson @sabswilson applied the makeup.

Here is another makeup that we did in Montreal for XMen - Apocalypse. I gotta say... I'm pretty proud of this one. In the film, we are meant to see Egyptian Oscar before his is transformed into Apocalypse. Alexei Dmitriew @hookuptattoos, and I did the initial test, figuring out the best path to choose to make Oscar look realistically bald. If you have seen his movies or seen images of Oscar, you know he has a lot of dense curly hair. And due to obligations for a film right after XMen, he couldn't shave his head. Luckily, for the Apocalypse makeup we already had to keep his hair pretty 'high and tight'. I was able to convince him to shave up some of his nape so that we could anchor the bald cap in a non moving area. Ok.. Yes... A bit of a cheat... But look at the results. Believe me.. A bald cap is one of the toughest things to pull off on a set, have it be successful and last all day. So many things to go wrong and so many ways for the makeup to break. For the shoot day, Mike Ornelaz @mikeornelaz, and I did the bald cap. He was in it for about 8 to 9 hours, and it held up great. On a side note, the scene was massive and HOD Rita Ciccozzi, her Key, Rosalina DaSilva @rosalinamakeup, and their team had a ton of people to make up that day too. Kudos!!!!
